The Scientific Secondary School is part of a state net of high schools and offers a complete variety of courses. German is taught in 2 courses in the scientific secondary school and in 2 courses in the linguistic branch, with 3-5 hours per week. There are 3 German teachers in the school. In the scientific branch, German is part of a long tradition, as it has been taught there since 1941. In the scientific branch, with its particular program for Informatics and Maths, many pupils are interested in studying foreign languages through multimedia support, and their German teachers are particularly focusing on this aspect. Pupils attending the language courses are 14 to 18 years old. All together, some 300 pupils are learning German on the various levels. Other languages taught at the school are English and French. The school has taken part in several Comenius 1 projects and has been a partner in the Comenius 2 project "GEH MIT" on in-service training of German teachers in ICT applications (2001-2003).
